One of the advantages of being a member of Alberta Gold (or any other Sweet Adelines chorus) is the superb educational opportunities offered. Last weekend, at our annual retreat weekend, Alberta Gold had the pleasure of being coached by the incomparable Corinna Garriock. Corinna is a talented singer, arranger, judge, and a member of the 2012 Queens of Harmony, Martini. She worked with us on our competition songs (for May 2020), helping us to shape the sound and put together a solid interpretive plan. While she was doing that, she was teaching us the importance of basic things like proper singing posture, vocal quality for different parts, and how to make ourselves better singers individiually and as a unit. We were excited to learn from Corinna and look forward to upcoming coaching sessions with Virginia Humphrey Taylor (Christchurch City Chorus) and Cheryl Pearce (Magic City Chorus). If you would like to have fun singing, access to a multitude of learning, and hang out with a great group of women, join us on a Monday night to take in a rehearsal and see if this great hobby is for you!
